80 year old Springerton resident, Dorothy Ellen Rush passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN. Dorothy was born December 21, 1941 to James H. and Dorothy L. (Files) Dawsey in Mill Shoals, IL. She married James Allen Rush and he preceded her in death August 28, 1992. Dorothy had worked at local area hospitals for many years as a nurse's aide. She had attended Mill Shoals Gospel Assembly and Springerton Christian Church. Survivors include her five children, one brother; James "Kenneth" Dawsey, a special friend; Maxine Winter of Springerton, IL and several cousins. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James and one son. Graveside services for Dorothy Ellen Rush will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Hammack Cemetery in Springerton, IL. Sean Michael York, 36, of Springerton, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in White County, Illinois. He was born on October 26, 1985 in Mt. Vernon, IL the son of Michael Ray York and Lucy Jill Rendleman. He married Emily Joy Hodge on August 23, 2014. Sean was the co-owner and manager of York Farms, Inc. along with his brother Wesley. In the offseason, he was a Wilderness Therapist in Northern Wisconsin and Alaska. He was also a licensed real estate agent and land specialist. He was a graduate of Hamilton County High School, Class of 2004. He graduated Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Recreation. He served as the secretary for the Beaver Creek Township Board, a certified Wilderness First Responder and Leave No Trace Master Educator. Sean was passionate about all things involving nature. Gary Joe Allen, 67, of Norris City, IL, passed away at 5:40 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. Gary was born on May 25, 1954, in Carmi, IL, the son of Willard and Shirley Ann (Melvin) Allen Jr. Until his passing, Gary was the Manager of Southern Illinois Lumber Company in Norris City. He began his career there in 1978, working first in the yard, and moved quickly to manager in 1982. For the last forty-three years Gary warmed hearts with his kind smile, and bodies with Southern Illinois Lumber sweatshirts. He often gave good-natured pestering to all his customers and friends and was known to spoil children of all ages with candy and other sweet treats. Gary was indeed a social butterfly and never met a stranger; he used his kind words and quick wit to light up the lives of those he encountered.
