corey booker doesn't know anything because is he stupid. >> only president in history what a job he has done. by the way we are impeaching him. if it does happen it's your fault you g you didn't go out to vote ♪ don't you ever leave me ♪ leave me alone ♪ leave me alone ♪ steve: it's september the 7th, it is a friday thank goodness. tgif thank goodness it's fox. don't lee me alone. do you know pete hegseth was with us yesterday and now is he out in montana. ainsley: in front of the entire audience pete gets to interview him right before his rally. brian: intimate setting. pete: just between friends it was pretty neat in the rim rock arena. you got your "new york times" delivered in manhattan. i got my billings gazette. no punches pulled. i think that's pretty accurate. he did have a teleprompter for his speech as he always does went off script and talked about a number of different topics. always said, we had a chance before hand with just about 10,000 friends watching to ask the president a few unscripted questions. one of those is, of course, about that a anonymous "new york times" op-ed and as can you imagine the president didn't pull any punches, here is what he said. >> folks may have seen anonymous column written in the "new york times." [crowd boos] and i think this audience would say an attack on you is an attack on the people who voted for you. [. [cheers and applause] >> are you any closer to knowing who did it and what should be done if you find out who did it? >> number one, the times should have never done that because really what they have done is virtually, you know, it's treason. you can call it a lot of things. but to think have you somebody in all of the cabinet came forward, writing editorials. they are all saying it's got to be at a fairly low level, some people today coming out i see all of the people saying such great things. we have a lot of love in the administration. and the white house is truly as you would say a well-oiled machine. it is working so well. [cheers and applause] you know, we have, i heard you say yesterday, we have thousands of people that in theory could qualify. they take one person out of thousands. but, what's unfair, i don't care when they write a book and discredit them, all of them because they're lies. i will tell you when somebody writes and you can't discredit because you have no idea who they are, usually you will find out it's a background that was bad. it may not be a republican. it may not be a conservative. it may be a deep state person that's been there a long time. you don't know where. it's a very unfair thing. it's very unfair to our country and to the millions of people that voted really for us. they voted for us. [cheers and applause] pete: certainly, guys, a crowd undeterred. a lot of support and love for this president in a sense that he is under siege in the swamp but in billings, montana, a lot of support and obviously a key senate race out here. we asked him about that. a another of other issues, as well as, you know, across the board. and we will bring it to you later on in the program. brian: pete, in terms of the president and being elm blazed, was the place packed. any emotion. any let down from the antics and some of the books about him. >> no. the place was packed. i talked to a lot of people on the floor there, it often backfires when folks think they are exposing this president. his supporters feel like he is being -- he is even more under siege than he was before. so they back him up even more. his support is going to stay strong amongsts had base. it is washington that is mostly abuse about this. most of the people there said we are not surprised that the "new york times" would go after this president. so don't expect it to hurt his base. but obviously raises questions in washington. steve: all right, pete, excellent interview. we will have more at the bottom of the hour where he talks about kavanaugh, the wall, and mr. mueller. ainsley: we have a big chunk of it. steve: by the way, rand paul yesterday suggested that they -- the president would be okay to use a lie detector to go through the administration and figure out who did this. mark meadows, the leader of the house freedom caucus suggested the leaker could actually be threatening national security, as the president said yesterday. they are going to take concrete stepping to figure out how the house could get involved. ainsley: the president mentioned last night at the rally people have been so critical of him. you have to remember he was not a politician. he said last night i guess i am a politician now. keep in mind i won bun race in my entire life. most start at mayor and local level. pretty phenomenal when you think about that one election. pete said an attack on you is an attack on the people and the crowd went wild. steve: corey booker was the mayor you have new jersey and came new york senator. yesterday, it was thrilling, if you were watching television, because it appeared he was willing to sacrifice his entire senate career to release some classified documents. watch this. >> i'm going to release the email about racial profiling and i understanding that that -- the penalty comes with potential ousting from the senate. and if senator cornyn believes that i violated senate rules, i openly invite and accept the consequences of my team releasing that email right now. this is about the closest i will probably ever have in my life that i am a spartan can you say moment. brian: the only problem with that, it makes no sense, number one. number two is the documents were already released. steve: yeah. >> number two it actually backs up the fact that kavanaugh, when he worked for president bush was going out of his way to prove they were not going to cut any policies on racial lines. that he wasn't a racist. even after 9/11 when so many were concerned about our security. ainsley: corey booker says i am going to release these confidential emails. well, it turns out at 1:00 p.m. it was announced restrictions on those emails had already been released. in fact, the folks who worked for george w. bush they said, quote: we cleared the documents last night shortly after corey booker's staff asked us to. we were surprised to learn about senator booker's histrionics this morning because we had already told him he could use the documents publicly. steve: exactly, the night before mike lee went over and talked to mr. booker and they worked it out. it was released. it was crazy thinking what is he talking about where he is going to put his reputation, his career on the line. the stuff that -- maybe he didn't know? we don't know exactly. all we know is senator orrin hatch has one of the funniest twitters on capitol hill and he has been there for years. he tweeted out yesterday, you know, i knew spartan can you say. >> corey peculiarer went out last night even more committee confidential documents if that was one which it doesn't seem to be. so he is daring people to him out of the senate and they wouldn't do it anyway. what he is really doing is saying vote for me in 20206789 we know he fund raised off day one. now we are in day four, 13 hours yesterday, 24 hours overall. we can only imagine what today will be. >> the committee said nothing he released was marked committee confidential at the time and to your point, you said the documents that he was releasing dealt with racial profiling after 9/11. well, it turns out that kavanaugh would side with corey booker. kavanaugh said he was against racial profiling people while working for the bush administration. he said, in an email, he favors effective security measures that are race-neutral for airports. he is against race based remedies. >> so all of those theatrics were for nothing. ainsley: were for show. steve: there was no bombshell. ben shapiro summed it up this way. >> corey booker, being a grand standing idiot, he decides, you know what is a great idea? >> yeah. i think a lot of people in mass mats have a problem were. this elizabeth warren's radical agenda is coming very into view now. it's very clear. she is willing to take a partisan newspaper's anonymous source as the justification to plunge our country into chaos. that's unacceptable. she wants to get rid of ice. you may have heard few weeks ago talking about taxing people 50 to 90% of their income. it's becoming very clear elizabeth warren wants to run for president and has a whole different idea for america. brian: she doubled down. this campaign has never been just about me it's been about all of us fighting to level the playing field for people. i will fight my heart out and hope you will, too. jeff, that's taking on you. you are trailing by double digits now. are you hardened by the fact that gavin newsom had a big lead to be governor and that's down to single digits. do you think there is something that you could wake up the american people to understand? >> well, we just won the nomination this last tuesday really a record turnout in massachusetts right after labor day weekend. the fact of the matter is we just became the candidate. we think we are actually much closener our polling. beyond that elizabeth warn has done nothing for massachusetts. she has been focusing on running for the white house basically since the day she was gnawing rated back in 2012. and so we know that massachusetts we don't appreciate somebody using for the springboard. i look forward to showing the difference my vision for helping my state. brian: did you meet with warren malone killed by i illegal immigrant. do you think that merits. >> maureen malone's son was killed by someone here illegally had a criminal record and should have been deported. elizabeth warren a week or so ago the real problem is families being separated at the border after the mollie tibbetts murder. you know, for her, she is completely tone deaf on this issue. she wants open borders and getting rid of ice. she is not for protecting the safety of americans or people in massachusetts. brian: real quick, did scott brown teach you anything of what is possible in massachusetts? let's bring in that student pauley olson. she joins us with her attorney. >> thank you. >> you are welcome. >> pauley, i will start with you. tell us what happened exactly you were out on campus passing out these valentine's day cards just to random people? >> yeah, every year i create a whole bunch of valentines and wherever i happen to be, mostly nursing homes or hospitals i hand them out. so this year i was on campus and within 15 minutes security was called and i was stopped by the secured guard he told me i couldn't pass out valentines and took me to the security office. ainsley: you decided to sue the school. what's the case? >> well, look, the college wants to put free speech in a box. as you pointed out, the problem is they say they permit free speech, what they do is try to quarantine the entire campus from free speech and say that students can speak only in a small area and only with prior permission. that's bad policy. college is supposed to been sharing ideas. it's also unconstitutional. public universities simply can't do that it's not their job to protect students from messages that they don't want to hear. polywas not being disruptive. she wasn't interfering with anyone's studying. >> poly, i think it's great. you are showing that you love other people and want to share the word of jesus with other people. i'm a christian, i think it's amazing and i think it's very brave of you because a lot of people might think you are weird for doing that or criticize you. clearly the school doesn't want you doing it why was it important for you to get these messages out? >> well, everyone should feel loved. and valentine's day there is a lot of people that are forgotten. and with my mom passing, it's pretty hard holiday because this is her tradition. ainsley: really. can you elaborate on that? >> i have been doing it since i was able to walk. she has taught us to care for others. ainsley: wow. i'm so sorry for your loss and that's really sweet that you wanted to carry this on. are you shocked by the school doing this? [cheers and applause] washington has been been so good at that there is another budget show down coming up. [chanting build that wall] well, congress hasn't been very good at funding that wall. you have a budget showdown coming out this month. would you shut down the government if wall funding is not included? [crowd cheers] >> so we started the wall. we have spent now close to $3.2 billion. we're in different parts of california. we're doing 80-mile strip. but we are looking to get the rest of the funding. here's the thing. i have a lot of great republicans. we need republicans elected in the mid terms. [cheers] >> we have to get republicans. and we are getting the wall done, but i have so many people, good people, great people, they would rather not do it before, they would rather do it right after the election. they don't want to do anything to upset the applecart. and my inclination -- if it was up to me, i would shut down government over border security. [cheers and applause] and i guess when you get right down to it, it is up to me. i don't want to do anything potentially hurt us, i have a feeling that the republicans we will do really well in the mid terms between the tax cuts and all of the other things we have done. [cheers and applause] >> most likely i will not do that but we're going to do it immediately after the election. i have the commitment from mitch mcconnell from, paul ryan, from everybody. we do it right after the election where hopefully, frankly, it will be easy because we have more republicans, not less. we are doing very well. [cheers and applause] >> and i think we are doing really very well in the house. we will see how it comes out. it will be an exciting day. i can tell you that nothing will be as exciting as our day almost two years ago. can you imagine? >> that's true. >> almost three years. we are going to get the wall. we have already started the wall and we'll continue onward. pete: mr. president, tonight is the first nfl game. [cheers and applause] honestly i don't know what the nfl is doing from. what i understanding it's in contract that you have to stand for the national anthem. they have some where it says you will will stand. you will have the helmet on the ground and hand on the heart. that's what it says. i don't know why they're not enforcing it and in cases where they don't have it, they have a new thing where they don't have to do that. you don't have to kneel. you can go back into the locker room. i think that's worse than kneeling in a certain way. you are going back. in that shows you just have no respect for the anthem or the flag. i don't like what nike did. i don't think it's appropriate what they did. i honor the flag. i honor our national anthem. and most of the people in this country feel the same way. [cheers and applause] pete: one more quick question back to washington, rudy giuliani just told the ap that you will not be answering any questions written or in person to the so-called special counsel. [cheers] >> look, there was no collusion. even in these crazy books they don't talk about collusion. there was no collusion with russia. i love this country. now, if we get along with china where we are doing very well in trade. you notice what's happening. you see what's going on. and with canada and with mexico and with different places. if we get along with china, if we get along with russia, if we get along just a little while ago a very nice statement came out from north korea. you probably saw that. you won't read that in the papers. when it's nice, they don't put it in. kim jong un said very nice things. he said we want to get denuclearization during the trump administration. it just came out a little while ago. [cheers and applause] >> nice, very nice. and i hope you heard what i said because you don't read that in the fake news media, you just don't. they don't want to write that. they only want to write bad when it comes to us and it's a shame. the level of unfairness and bias in the press is actually incredible. but, in the meantime, we are winning, folks, be happy because we are winning. >> there is even more we are going to share in the program. i was struck by a very prudent approach, i think, on the government shut down. we don't know where he would come down on that. he want to shut it down. that's his impulse to get that wall. 2018 mid terms are a big factor in the discussions with fellow republicans have said let's wait until after the elections to have the wall fight. steve: right. and fund those nine bills that are on his desk. and then the wall money, that's the limbo part coming up. pete, what was it like accidentally triggering that build a wall chant? pete: i know it's live action interview. have you done that steve, too. you have been on the white house lawn and doing it in realtime you don't know what's going to happen. you can't really interview through a build a wall chant. you have to let it run its course. and then you continue the interview. so certainly a unique dynamic. ainsley: what struck me too, pete, the crowd really understands the issues. sometimes i think this is -- we don't want to get caught up in the minutia of this. when you asked the questions, blornghtsd is he going to get the questions in advance. they are totally following this story and they get it. pete: these crowds are incredibly dialed in. the folks follow this president the day by day, they are not seduced by the latest pie piece of news or scrap of russia talk in washington. they follow it because they believe this n. this president and wants to defend him. part of knowing what he is under attack for. certainly informed crowd. brian: it was clear you understood the issues. i watch you on the weekends. you will do come out with more about the race and about tester and company, right? ♪ craig and sheila broke up! craig and sheila!? ♪ as long as office gossip travels fast, you can count on geico saving folks money. craig and sheila broke up! what!? fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on car insurance. steve: nike's new just do it ad campaign featuring collin kaepernick rolling out during last night's season opener last night causing backlash. people burning their nike gear and planning to boycott the company all together. here to weigh in on the message nike is trying to send with the campaign ceo of patriot group and -- eric good morning. >> good morning. good to be with you. steve: what has happened to nike's reputation. >> i think it's been significantly disseminated especially amongst patriotic americans who have been treated with tremendous disrespect. and i think that nike should reverse its decision and be accountable for the type of disrespect that it has shown to so many across this country who honor and respect the flag and honor and respect the anthem. >> eric, morning consult, the polling group, did a question about nike's decision to include collin kaepernick. they did the polling after they rolled it out. their favorability rating dropped 34 points. 34 points. it's amazing. before the people said they -- only 2% had heard anything negative about nike and afterwards that they had announced collin kaepernick it went to 33. what was nike thinking because clearly they had focus groups and all sorts of brand strategy meetings. what were they thinking? >> they weren't. i don't think they were pay thinking. this was a systematic alienation of 50% of this country. it was a gross miscalculation. have you people now that are boycotting like crazy. and i think to me it's unamerican not to boycott given what has happened. and so it is somewhat, it's just shocking and yet you contrast it with michael jordan, air jordan a subbrand, you don't hear hey him talking about this and broadcasting. so, today, nike just do it, the slogan now means we don't care about conservatives. and i think the conservative outrage, patriotic americans will cost nike heavily and they are going to pay a big price in terms of, i think, patriotic americans amputating nike from their lives. steve: is there anything they can do to keep kaepernick as a spokesperson for this 30th anniversary rollout and reach tout conservatives? steve: you are talking about if you have a google account. you log on and that's when they track you. >> most people have at one point or another crossed a google product that has you log on. steve: g mail or something. >> here's how you do it. simply log on to your google account. you will see your initials in the top right when you get there select my activity from the menu. you confirm your password and then you hit the menu thing again and you click delete activity by select all time from the date and menu and under the products mental you and will search. you don't want to delete everything else. so easy to do. this sounds complicated when we're talking about it on tv. i put it online take you just a few seconds to do this. ainsley: what's the big deal if we're searching shopping, searching children's diapers? what's the big deal if they have that. steve: ainsley search. >> not everybody searches just those things. what we search for tells a lot about us. tells us -- tells them where we are what we like. and sure, they are going to keep some of this anyway. but it's just why should that be there? [cheers] pete: are you any closer to knowing who did it and what should be done if you find out who did it? >> number one, the "times" should have never done that really what they have done is virtually, you know, it's treason. you can call it a lot of things. you have some people as you know came forward, writing editorials, they are all saying, you know, it's got to be at fairly low level because some people today, i was just coming out and i see all the people that are saying such great things. we have a lot of love in the administration. and the white house is truly as you would say, a well-oiled machine. it is working so well. [cheers and applause] and you know, we have, i heard you say yesterday, we have thousands of people that in theory could qualify. they take one person out of thousands, what's unfair i don't mind when they write a book and make lies. it gets discredited. we discredited the last one. we discredit all of them because it's lies. i will tell you when somebody writes and you can't discredit because you have no idea who they are, usually you will find out it's a background that was bad. it may not be a republican. it may not be a conservative, it may be a deep state person that's been there a long time. you don't know where. it's a very unfair thing. but, it's very unfair to our country and to the millions of people that voted really for us. think voted for us. pete: big reaction to that and talking to. so white house officials, there is a question how senior the senior administration official may be. you may have to cast a pretty wide net. steve: go ahead, brian. brian: senator thune brought up yesterday for those people if they were looking to the president this anonymous source in this editorial might have done the opposite. energizing a bunch of people to stand um and say i have got your back. that's a bunch of his cabinet officials and others said it's not me and said some nice things about the president. almost as if he took a "roll call" and this editorial men and women stand up or sit down. >> spot on. i think the folks on the ground here say it's a reminder to supporters of this president had you deep the fight is internally against him in washington and galvanizes their support and only does, as you said reiterate the support amongst cabinet members who came out with really strong statements and support. >> to that point the "wall street journal" today has got a news story that talks about nobody really remembers the last time a senior government official was given anonymity in writing an op-ed. there are a lot of anonymous sources. but an op-ed. they said if it was john kelly, who is going to do it, they would protects him. but they go on to say if it turns out to be the deputy assistant undersecretary's assistant, probably not. and the "new york times" refuses to reveal how senior the senior official actually is. >> and then that would look bad for the "new york times." steve: sure. pete: and their classification of a senior official. you heard the president he use offed the t word treason. they are taking this seriously. someone and groups of people working against him from within. they are hoping to find out and hoping the press might smoke it out as well. that was their hope. ainsley: pete you did a nice job. folks throughout elected him. they don't care. they are going to be naysayers. they look for someone who works for this administration and president who is going to say negative things about him and think that he is the hero. they look at that guy as being disloyal to this administration and to this president. so, i do think it has helped him with his base thanks so much. pete: you are right, ainsley. brian: thanks, pete. catch up with you at the bottom of the hour and more on that interview. if you want to put one candidate forward in montana that would guarantee a win, it would be don jr. they say that sea rock star in montana. outdoorsman been there so often is he known by everybody. steve: maybe in the future. ed to the important news. i googled it they will be able to track me. the keep america great hat is available for $9.95 on gop.com. ainsley: how much is it normally? it looks like he was willing to throw his senate job to the wind and be expelled from the senate because he was going to release classified information. here's the thing. keep this in mind when you are watching this. the emails that he said he was about to release had already been declassified and, yet, this happened. >> i'm going to release the email about racial profiling and i understand that that -- the penalty comes with potential ousting from the senate. and if senator cornyn believes that i violated senate rules, i openly invite and accept the consequences. the emails are being withheld from the public have nothing to do with national security. >> running for president is no excuse for violating the rules of the senate or of confidentiality of the documents that we're imrif. to say. >> now i appreciate the comments of my colleagues this is the closest i will probably have in my life to i am spartan can you say moment. ainsley: what happens, he says this. and everyone thinks wow, is he willing to give up his senate estate seat because is he going to release these confidential emails and then you learn the real story. at 1:00 yesterday, it was announced that the retractions on releasing those emails -- the restrictions on releasing those emails were labeled committee confidential. well, that had been waived in the morning. so the committee. steve: overnight. ainsley: committee had decided these are no longer confidential. we will release these to the public and then cory booker comes out and says i'm going to be the hero. i'm going to release. they they were lrp release you had. brian: they did, afterwards cory booker releases two more transes of emails that are confidential. is he looking for his time in the spotlight. amongst the people that were a little shocked by these actions being that he wasn't really releasing anything that one really knew and underlined the fact that there was no bias in what brett kavanaugh did when he was with the bush administration was trey gowdy. >> only 2020 presidential politics, martha. they missed a wonderful opportunities, the senate did to have a robust, interesting hearing about judicial philosophy and whether you're a strict constructionist or whether you are a minimalist, these are legitimate questions and reasonable minds can differ. what i watched over the last couple of days was a bunch of people who want to be the nominee in 2020. and it's sad. ainsley: so true. you ask yourself what is core booker releasing? i was curious. i want to see what is in those emails that were not being released. steve: the bombshell. ainsley: then you read about it kavanaugh was asked after 9/11 whether or not he agreed with racial profiling. he said he was against racially profiling people while working for the bush administration. email says he favors security measures against race based remedies. >> it was unclear what cory booker was talking about but maybe he was just confused. maybe he did not know that they had been declassified by the committee because, given the whole spartan can you say thing, it is just like i said earlier it's a head scratcher. was he just grand standing? um. brian: trey gowdy says i have known corey sings i got to washington. that's not the cory booker i have know i watched on television. the shame of it all to me that's what ambition in presidential politics can do to otherwise reasonable people. steve: there you go. what do you think? >> sounds exactly like nancy pelosi. i would say it's probably one of the most irresponsible thing i have ever heard a politician say. a program that would raise taxes in the first year 150% in the state of new york. at the very least. we are not talking about small potatoes. steve: you know there interest a lot of people who don't pay federal taxes. what do i have to lose? i like the idea of getting something free for nothing. >> well, in this particular case, we are talking about a new york specific health plan. and this is -- my organization business council deals mainly with new york policy. weave do deal with some federal policy. we have been deeply concerned about what's going on in this state. you are correct. people think they are getting a free lunch if you will. but, taxation will be out-of-control. steve: i think i read in new york state alone it would be something like $170 billion just for this and that's what the entire budget for the entire state is. you say the real problem is the loss of jobs. forget about your taxes are going to skyrocket. how many people would lose their jobs if this went through? >> so, conservative estimates are that on the onset of this would be about 150,000 jobs in the state of new york. >> how? >> well, when you consider all of the folks that work for insurance companies that work for brokers, all of the back office people in hospitals and doctors offices. and that's just the beginning. then have you every pizza shop and every convenience store in small towns lose a thousand jobs from a program like this. 150,000 jobs is the state as new york state loss in the great recession. >> unbelievable. why is it right now when the polsters ask do you like the idea of medicaid for all they go yeah, we would love that why is that number going up? we know that he is taking a stand and they paint him as somebody who is brave for doing it why is that bad news for the ozarks? >> well, first of all, the college of the ozarks is different from most schools. in that we have a patriotic goal. and we feel like we're -- it's our duty to uphold that goal and it's based on civic responsibility and a love of america and a willingness to definitdefend it we think the ne foundation has not acted responsibly and we are of the opinion that nike corporation is exploiting an issue that we don't think this s. helpful in the culture right now and the college of the ozarks has made its decision on baled on honor trying to carry out our mission and be a good example for young people. so, they have made their decision, we have made our decision. brian: how did you let them know and what was their reaction? >> well, we just simply served notice that we would no longer have their logo on our uniforms and we would buy uniforms somewhere else. that's what we're doing. we haven't heard from the corporation. i doubt if they care what people like us out in middle america think anyway. brian: i would hope they do care. and i imagine that they are not looking to alienate but they took a huge risk in doing this in my opinion. they put together a great ad. the only person who didn't belong in it was collin kaepernick because it talked about reaching your dreams. doctor, what are you going to do in the fall? >> well, we know something about reaching of dreams. this college for over 100 years has been educating kids that don't have any money. this is a work college. you can't get in here hardly unless you show financial need. we have some of the same goals. we just don't think that using the issue, which goes back to kneeling during the presentation of a national anthem or the american flag, we don't think that's a constructive way to deal with problems. people are entitled to their own opinion, we are entitled to ours. we also don't like to seat word sacrifice thrown around too much. if you want to find sacrifice you are more than likely in to finding that in somebody who wears this nation's uniform not somebody on an athletic field making money. can i introduce you to your and your audience so somebody that knows about sacrifice, the chairman of our board is a four star general. he once told me about hauling 20 dead marines in his helicopter out of vietnam. i say they sacrificed everything and they did not do it for money and try to exploit it. brian: understood. they say that younger people are for kaepernick and that this is a -- this is an homage to them. it's nike reaching out to the next generation. have you heard any athletes say i want the swoosh on my uniform? >> no. i haven't. and they may have misjudged the younger generation. some of the information that i have seen show that they are less likely to buy the product. i don't know who nike's marketing genius is but i don't think -- and i don't think it's in the interest of the country. i think people are just tired of divisiveness and disrespect. and so it feeds the end of that. stirred up very much of a controversy all over the country, but the american people need to decide. do you want to support the values of a corporation that's using an issue improperly for the purpose of getting money or do you want to support the values of a work college who is trying to do something patriotic. the public has to decide. brian: have you heard from any brand? have they reached out to you? adivide does? underarmor? >> well, not yet. but all of our teams don't use nike materials anyway. the baseball team uses adidas. i doubt if we will have finding somebody that will sell us tennis shoes. evidently somebody want to give me some. they called up yesterday and wanted to know what my shoe size was. maybe they want to throw it at me. i don't know. i don't care. but i don't think we are going to have any trouble finding people to sell us material. brian: what is your shoe size? [chanting build that wall] congress hasn't been very good at funding that wall. you have a budget show down coming down this month. would you shut down the government if wall funding is not included? >> so we started the wall. we have spent now close to $3.2 billion. we're in different parts of california. we're doing an 80-mile strip. but we are looking to get the rest of the funding. here's the thing. i have a lot of great republicans. we need republicans elected in the mid terms. we have to get republicans. and we are getting the wall done, but i have had so many people, good people, great people, they would rather not do it before. they would rather do it right after the election. they don't want to do anything to upset the applecart. and my inclination -- if it was up to me, i would shut down government over border security. [cheers and applause] and i guess when you get right down to it, it is up to me. i don't want to do anything that is going to hurt us or potentially hurt us because i have a feeling that the republicans are going to do very well. we have the strongest economy we have ever had. i think we are going to do really well in the mid terms between the tax cuts and all of the other things we have done. so, most-likely, i will not do that but we're going to do it immediately after the election. i have the commitment from mitch mcconnell, from paul ryan, from everybody. we do it right after the election where hopefully, frankly it, will be easy because we will have more republicans, not less. we are doing very well. >> [applause] i think we are doing really very well in the house. we will see how it comes out. it will be an exciting day. i can tell you that nothing will be as exciting as our day almost two years ago. can you imagine. almost three years. [cheers and applause] we will get the wall. we have already started the wall and we will continue onward. pete: mr. president, tonight is the first nfl game. [crowd booing] >> they don't have as many fans as they used to have from collin kaepernick to the nfl and now nike, who is going to win this cultural show down of standing for the anthem? >> we are. >> we are. [cheers and applause] honestly, i don't know what the nfl is doing. from what i understand, it's in contract that you have to stand for the national anthem. in fact, they have some where it stands yo says you will standing have the helmet on the ground and hand on the heart. that's what it says. i don't know why they aren't enforcing it. in cases where they don't have it, they had a new thing where they don't have to do it. you don't have to kneel. you can go back into the locker room. i think that's worse than kneeling in a certain way. you are going back in. that shows that you just have no respect for the anthem or the flag. i don't like what nike did. i don't think it's appropriate what they did. i honor the flag. i honor our national anthem. and most of the people in this country feel the same way. they feel the same way. [cheers and applause] can you confirm that? >> look, there was no collusion. even in these crazy books they don't talk about collusion. there was no collusion with russia. i love this country. now, if we get along with china, where we are doing very well in trade, you notice what's happening. you z. what's going on. and with canada and with mexico and with different places. but, if we get along with china, if we get along with russia, if we get along just a little while ago, a very nice statement came out from north korea. you probably saw that by the way, you won't read that in the papers because, when it's nice, they don't put it. in kim jong un said very nice things. he said we want to get denuclearization during the trump administration. it just came out a little while ago. nice, very nice. [cheers and applause] i hope i heard what you said because you don't read that in the fake news ministry. you just don't. they don't want to write that they only want to write bad when it comes to us and it's a shame. the level of unfairness and bias in the press is actually incredible. but, in the meantime, we are winning, folks, be happy because we are winning. >> pete: steve, as you mentioned a lot of national topics but came back to senate race in montana. last question for the president was about jon tester, his treatment of ronny jackson and whether or not he really focuses on the va. listen. >> last question, you are here in montana for a reason. i have a feeling you would like to get rid of one jon tester and replace him with somebody else. [cheers and applause] the v.a. is a personal passion of mine, what happened to ronny jackson was a shame. is that going to be a focus of your remarks. >> first of all, you have a new man matt, do we love matt? [cheers] >> so mat is i know him so well here. he has been so successful. is he running for the senate. and frankly what tester did to a phenomenal man, admiral ronny jackson. my doctor. is he an admiral. he is a doctor. he is a perfect -- is he just a great person. what they did to demean this man and he held up because he is strong. but most people could never take it. ronny jackson, we love you, it should never have happened. but, what senator tester did and what he said that turned out to be false was incredible. and you see that in politics. people say things that are totally -- they are doing that with matt. they are saying bad stuff and they figure hey, we will correct it after the election is over. let me tell you, you have a winner here, is he going to win and give us his votes. tester is never going to give us a vote. i know he did a commercial. i feel a little bit guilty because he did a commercial today and everyone is saying it's like a love letter to president trump. that's because i want this state by many, many points. and so is that right? love letter. we are never going to get his vote. on the second assessment if he could, he would get rid of it he will follow schumer and pelosi and maxine waters. >> i think we are going to see roughly 200,000 new jobs. that's quiets a strong performance. i think we may see the unemployment rate tick down to 3.8%. that will be a generational low. but perhaps more importantly, i think we are going to see wages tick up. i think the pace of wage gains is beginning to pick up. that's a very good sign for middle america. brian: i would love to see that number get out of the 60's into the 70's of those that are just not in the job market, have dropped off and have not gotten back. >> in you will see that today. i'm pretty sure you don't want to forecast numbers that are going to be released in 45 minutes time. i'm pretty sure you are going to see a lot of those people currently on the sidelines come in to the labor force big dealing. ainsley: you say america is the only game in town. only one seeing numbers like. this as far as our economy is concerned and our stock market, we are the only game in town. all the way around the world economies are stagnating and markets are falling. >> briefly richest man in the world jeff bezos his whole foods workers there want to unionize that is tearing them that would mean maybe amazon would do the same. am john is worried about this. they have workers at whole foods who want a raise. they want unionization. does that spread over to their warehouse workers, the warehouse workers and that would put amazon in a precarious profitable position for retail operation. by the way, amazon stock very high flyer, it's come down $100 a share in the last couple of days. ainsley: how do you prevent your focuses from unionizing? >> what they have done is virtually treason, you can call it a lot of things but to think you have somebody in all the cabinets, so many people became forward writing editorials saying it has to be a fairly low level because people today coming out, all the people saying such great things. we have a lot of love for this administration. the white house is truly as you would say a well oiled machine. we have i heard you say yesterday thousands of people that in theory could qualify so they take one person out of thousands but what is unfair i don't mind when they write a book because it gets discredited. we discredited the last one and all of them. that i tell you when somebody rights and you can to discredit because you don't know who they are you usually find out the background is bad, might not be a republican or conservative, might be a deep state person, you don't know where. it is a very unfair thing to our country and the millions of people who voted for us. >> reporter: a lot more of the interview later in the hour. anyone who thinks the enthusiasm is dampened among his supporters needs to go to a rally like this. just as excited as they have been for this president. brian: you are asking with a hand microphone, you gave it to him. >> reporter: what do you do? ainsley: you are taught in school never give away your microphone but when it is the president of the united states you do. >> reporter: i realize i am done. rob: more with pete and his interview with the president in 20 minutes. steve: brett kavanaugh hearings have dominated this network and others and it started off by them saying they don't have enough paperwork. we don't want to be here, we are not voting for brett kavanaugh to begin with and then back to business. that is the rearview mirror. nothing will happen on day 2. they made their stand. i was wrong. steve: cory booker wanted to release committee confidential things and talked to mike lee and we didn't know what happened so yesterday morning cory booker was very specific essentially i willing to be expelled from the u.s. senate but i'm going to release classified documents. as you watch that, that is what he said but he knew they had already been declassified. >> i'm going to release the email about racial profiling. i understand that comes with potential ousting from the senate and if senator cornyn believes i violated senate rules i invite and accept the consequences. the emails are being withheld from the public, have nothing to do with national security. >> running for president is no excuse for violating the rules of the senate or confidentiality of the documents we are privy to. >> i appreciate the comments of my colleagues, the closest i will ever have in my life to and i particles moment. brian: i partisan the 1960 movie with kirk douglas the romans wanted to know who was spartacus and everybody else around kirk douglas says i spartacus. steve: doesn't really apply here. that means he is joining people but he is cavalier. he is a cowboy in this situation. >> spartacus has to be used correctly. ainsley: emails i withheld because they are confidential. than the committee decide they are not confidential because we want to see these emails. the night before cory says that they decide we are going to release these, they won't be confidential. everyone has an email saying now they are confidential and cory goes up and says i am releasing these and might lose my senate seat and i spartacus but when you know the facts they are already declassified and nonconfidential. brine back the passage where he is standing up will make a great 2020 i am running for president commercial. fundraising -- finance this. >> the public is smarter than that and people on the left want to run against him and point out how wrong that moment was. >> if you look at senators on the committee, democrats who want to run for office is trying to get their questions in for the democratic party. kamala harris from day one right out of the gate just stepped in and interrupted him. brine brian: trying to trap brett kavanaugh into saying he has spoken to the law firm who represented the president. and brett kavanaugh said i don't know who you are talking about. ainsley: when cory booker said that, what do they say, what are they releasing? >> we need real solutions for this community. this is the fourth congressional district in the country with 412 out of 435 lowest income in the united states, 9 in ten people have a high school degree and for our add community here, we don't have water. jim costa has been a career politician for 40 years. and he is a member of congress. he has a vision for the community. >> a big issue in california, the homeless population a big issue here, what are your plans for those issues? [crowd chanting] >> congress hasn't been very good at funding that wall. a budget showdown coming out this month. would you shut down the government if wall funding is not included. >> we started the wall, $3.2 billion in different parts of california. we are looking to get the rest of the funding. i have a lot of great republicans. we need republicans elected. we are getting the wall done that i had so many people that rather not do it before but after the election. don't want to do anything to upset the apple cart. my inclination if it was up to me i would shut down government over the wall. >> witnesses from the american bar association telling us why they found brett kavanaugh well-qualified. he is the star of his generation of conservative warriors and has been for 12 years. this hearing was sad and became a joke. when they engaged in the law, they tried to accuse him of being involved in using documents stolen by somebody else he had no knowledge of. the in you and you and smear campaign bothered me the most. none of them will vote for brett cavanagh but all of them should. the most well-qualified man in america. steve: a few columns by you, very few people closer to john mccain than you and very few people the president trusts more than you. how can senator graham be close to both?
