the airlines have quite a bit of responsibility. it is always a different problem. southwest it was their scheduling. united this past time it was staffing. with delta i believe it was ground staffing for luggage. then with the faa, they have their staffing problems, tsa has staffing problems. seems like there could be one person in a position in the government who could coordinate these things. see the problems coming so when the real life stress for things like weather. pete buttigieg plays a role and he is not filling it. >> julie: in my case it was frontier and we were told to stand by we're waiting for the crew and waiting for the crew. hours later the crew never appeared so we didn't have a crew. i was wishing i had my pilot's license. the "wall street journal" titled flying the faa's unfriendly skies that americans may be sitting on the tarmac for the next few summers, bring
need replace, upgrade things. you in the military know you have to have a structure, a plan. people have their jobs to do. you can't just wing it. what could be done differently especially for the united ceo? he has to get to where he's going, is there a better way, what should the airlines be doing when they've got the money and the time? it seems like everybody is winging it these days. >> there's a trade kat, pilots retired, there are enough pilots coming in to take deposition. it takes time to earn your wings and learn to fly safely. i do not ever complain if a flight is grounded because maintenance needed to be done on the plane. i consider that a blessing and i'm happy we live in a place we can pretty those things but when we look at what's happening with airlines specifically, delta had a luggage problem, they didn't have enough people to sort luggage. southwest was granted because of this technology in their own scheduling went awry. from my understanding, they had their own staffing problems i

alicia: get all these travelers come roaring back. he listed all those problems. but you did not mention the weather. that was the big problem that actually exposed to some of the and proms were talking about here. some of the airlines were talking about the weather. let's put up the map to show some the most impacted airports here pretty had o'hare and then you have these airports down in the easter break i am in denver we had problems out here. united is a hub and united was hit really hard. because they actually had staffing problems that they were telling folks inside the airport that they were having while they were hearing on the news it was weather. i just at the show folks this i'm here in denver. these are folks at dia on costs. the airport had to bring up thousands of cops because folks had to stay there for days on end. >> guess what else is happening for if you are a crewmember and you are calling you need to get squared with your schedule they are telling me they can wait four or five or nine hours on
their own staffing problems i think due to the union deal that didn't go through with their pilots. then tsa probably one of the worst managed organizations and the government, i'm not beating up on them but every airport is different. a guy with special treatment, i get screens differently everywhere i go. tsa agents don't know their own -- i used to be a bombs ted, i knew the machines they are using, they don't know the machines as well as i do. it compounds. it would be great if there was someone in the government in charge of transportation who can identify these problems across the board and let's get together and fix this. >> should be in charge but let's also remember we haven't had a senate appointed faa head since march 2022 -- leading the faa in a permanent role. >> when you have a guy like mayor pete as your
problems, their system was antiquated. united right now has a strike, staffing problems, delta had the famous luggage debacle a few months ago. airports don't have enough workers on the tarmac. the faa doesn't have enough air traffic controllers, and the tsa doesn't have enough bodies to run you through, and i know for a fact they have different standards for every airport out there, among tsa, i will say the tsa here in new york at some of the best for me. so what am i getting out? could there be a government figure whose job is to regulate these things and make sure all of the different entities, different problems and gaps, are communicating and exercising what problems they have rather than come i don't know, a local weatherman that is not very good at his job? because that is all i heard from pete. oh, man, bad weather, i did not get in until 2:00 a.m. i don't get it vehicle you have one job, to make sure all of these entities are communicating with each other with their problems are, and they all exist on their own island and they
