Spirits were high at The Ranch on Sunday morning as hundreds of friends, family members and well-wishers gathered to give a rousing send off to 120 veterans traveling to Washington D.C.
Cass, a 29-year-old Army veteran, founded the organization in 2008 as Northern Colorado Honor Flight with the goal of giving every Northern Colorado World War II veteran an opportunity to see the then-newly-established World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. Voris took over in 2008, reviving the program and renaming it to High Plains Honor Flight.
High Plains Honor Flight has its sights set high. Over a mile high to be more specific. The volunteer-led nonprofit that flies veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials built in their honor hopes to add a second yearly flight.
