A day after the Bombay High Court refused a city mosque to open up for Ramadan prayers, the Maharashtra Government opposed a petition by two Jain trusts seeking permission for devotees to collect pious boiled food from the trust s premises during the nine-day-long Ayambil fast.
The State cited its April 13 circular, directing all religious places to remain closed for outsiders for the safety of citizens, due to the surge in the Covid-19 cases in the State. It informed the court that devotees may congregate for food collection. Yesterday the Court refused the mosque to open. There should not be bias alleged on the part of the State. Our stand is clear, all religious places should remain closed.

SEREMBAN, Feb 5 Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba went out to the field to observe the implementation of the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) at an electronics factory here today.
Accompanied by Negri Sembilan Health director Datin Dr Harlina Abdul Rashid, Dr Adham spent about 20 minutes at the factory, where he was also given a briefing by its management.
When met by members of the media, Dr Adham said he visited the factory after 61 out of 416 individuals screened there had tested positive for the disease.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 With the new standard operating procedures for businesses and eateries set by the government, Grab has reduced its commission ceiling further by up to five per cent for all food and mart merchants nationwide for four weeks from January 13 until February 10.
