Let me say thank you for the opportunity to have this conversation as i approach you about the importance of this issue, you were kind enough to give me the chance to move this forward and have a real conversation with america about the importance of Police Reform, accountability and transparency. Thats what the justice act focuses on and accountability and transparency, you were smart enough to put together a strong group of senators with passion about the issue with expertise in different aspects, this is a great team you put together. You have an opportunity to discuss the issue of Police Reform. Too often we have a discussion in this nation about supporting Law Enforcement community or communities of color. This is a small binary choice, answer to the question which size do you support. I support america. Before the legislative mean, i have a press conference where our report on the issues coming up in the legislative meeting the next day. Tomorrow, tuesday, june 9, the council will have its regular meeting for the month of june. On the agenda is, is not very large in terms of number of measures. So im going to speak to this, take any questions, then i will turn it over to the mayor with her usual press conference, and i will be staying for a while encase there are more questions regarding the councils business. The main items for tomorrows legislative meeting, we are doing we are proving the final reading on the temporary coronavirus legislation thats a comprehensive bill that we adopted at our last meeting. This was a consolidation of, im going to say four or five different bills that have been passed periodically since march 17. Measures in the district trying to help with the economy as well asindividuals as well appointment for residents and so forth. Im not going to go through wha

On may 25, in the twilight of memorial day, Derek Chauvin of the Minneapolis Police held a need to george mr. Floydonless neck, pleaded for release, repeating the words i cant breathe. Mr. Floyd, i am sure you have seen the video. Can you think of any reason why officer chauvin would need to hold his knee on your brothers for over eight minutes . I dont know why he did it, but personally i think it was personal. They worked at the same place. For him to do Something Like that, it had to be premeditated and he wanted to do it. Intentional. Yes sir. We have learned since then that he has faced 17 misconduct complaints during his career. He was named in the brutality lawsuit, he shot and critically wounded a man after a brief and nonviolent confrontation.
