PNM responds to NACTA poll: We ll widen THA lead

PNM Tobago Council chairman, Stanford Callender, said the party intends to use the findings of the North American Caribbean Teachers Association (NACTA) poll to improve its campaign for the January 25 Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election.
NACTA has the PNM comfortably ahead of the Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP) in seven of the nine electoral districts it leads, noting a clean sweep of all 12 seats is not beyond the realm of possibilities. Two seats, the poll found, are too close to call.
THA election candidate suffers stroke

WITH just over two weeks to go before the January 25 Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election, independent candidate for Black Rock/Whim/Spring Garden Anthony Hector has reportedly suffered a stroke.
A source said Hector, 58, was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital on Saturday where he remains warded and is said to be resting comfortably. The source could not say if Hector will bow out of the election race or return to the campaign.
On January 4, Hector filed his nomination papers along with several other candidates at Montessori Drive, Glen Road. He told reporters he felt nervous during the exercise as it was first time entering electoral politics. On that occasion, Hector said his main priority, if elected, will be to establish a community council for the electoral district.
Tobago PNM sure PM will make speedy recovery

The People’s National Movement’s (PNM’s) Tobago Council has expressed confidence the Prime Minister will make “a speedy and full recovery.”
Dr Rowley was admitted to West Shore Private Medical Hospital in Cocorite, on Friday evening, after complaining of discomfort.
He was kept overnight for observation and was said to be in good spirits.
The PM visited the United States two years ago for heart tests after plaque was earlier found in one of his arteries.

People’s National Movement (PNM) Tobago Council chairman Stanford Callender says the party is ready for the January 25 THA election.
“As chairman of the party, I want to say that the People’s National Movement is ready for the THA election. The machinery is well-oiled and our candidates are in place. They are on the ground,” he said on Tuesday during a news conference at the party’s headquarters, Pumpmill, Scarborough.
“We have put things in place to make sure that come Nomination Day, all our candidates will be nominated as representatives for the PNM and the people of Tobago.”
