pronouncements, repeatedly invoking their fifth amendment rights. and refusing to answer any questions from the committee. cnn s sara murray is looking into all of the transcripts revealing, including new aspects of the committee s closed doors depositions. reporter: new details about the pressure campaign of blockbuster witness. i overheard the president something like, i don t care that they have weapons. they re not here to hurt me. take the f ing mags away. reporter: as she fought to share details investigating january 6. former white house aide cassie hutchinson told that her previous attorney stefan passantino alleged misled her. and paston tino said, according to hutchinson s testimony and he allegedly advised her to stop talking to the committee saying
bring in senior justice correspondent evan perez on this. and, evan, is there a role for the justice department when we have contradictory testimony under oath on what happened inside the presidential suv? there absolutely is. especially, again, what cassidy hutchinson has provided testimony to is essentially something she was being told to lie to the committee. that is a lie. that is something that the justice department would be interested in investigating. we know from the committee that they have, even in the middle of all of this, they turned over information to prosecutors. and so, we know that they have at least interviewed cassidy hutchinson. so, they have a lot of what exactly went on behind the scenes including what her accounts are with her attorney. they already know a lot of it. so, just to stay on this for one second, according to her testimony, passantino told her you can say that you don t remember stuff, even if you remember a lot of it. i m not a lawyer, but that
necessarily with witnesses who are testifying under oath but just pretty comprehensively if you re a republican candidate running somewhere and you want his support you need to bend the knee in some way. if you re a governor looking for ventilators for your state or disaster aid of some kind, you need to make a show of loyalty, so i think there s something that s not terribly shocking that this is how lawyers close to donald trump would be interacting with just people generally, but obviously the risks and consequences of behaving like this are totally different right now. i think you do get coming out of this committee a picture of former president trump and the people around him as not necessarily having adapted to a world where there are real consequences where they don t control the justice department or mechanics of investigations. some reads out of like a mafia novel. oh, my gosh, when i was reading it and should note again, this is cassidy hutchinson speaking under oath to the
