LEAP awarded $100,000 for high-tech startup program LANSING - The Lansing Economic Area Partnership was awarded $100,000 in Gateway Representative program funds this week aimed at supporting area high-tech startups. The funds, awarded by the Michigan Economic Development Corp., allow LEAP to have Joe Carr on staff as a high-tech entrepreneur who will help guide and advise local startups and to help them access other state resources such as the Business Accelerator Fund, which can award tech startups up to $50,000 for certain needs. Carr is also LEAP s vice president of entrepreneurship and innovation. LEAP s Tech Startup Gateway Program is framed around regional management of BAF support, managing the Lansing Regional SmartZone (which connects startups from around the region) and close relationships with Michigan State University Foundation s Red Cedar Ventures, Spartan Innovations and the Regional Innovation Network Group, LEAP said in a release.
