The Bill "...shall come into effect after an exercise of delimitation is undertaken for this purpose after the relevant figures for the first census taken after the commencement of the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty Eighth Amendment), Bill 2023 have been published, and shall cease to have effect on the expiration of a period of 15 years from the date of such commencement," reads new Article 334A the draft legislation seeks to introduce in the Constitution.

New Delhi, September 19 (IANS) The women's reservation bill has proposed that the reservation would continue for a period of 15 years and there will be quota for SC and STs within the reserved seats for women.

After an inordinate delay, the much awaited and long-pending demand of several political parties, the Centre on Tuesday introduced a Bill to provide 33 per cent reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies. The Bill, known as the “Narishakti Vandan Adhiniyam”, was introduced 

Sources said that Sonia Gandhi will lead the party on the long-awaited Bill and she will be the main speaker of the Congress for debate on it
