A resident of Lagos State was on Wednesday evening reportedly shot dead while struggling to buy fuel amid the current scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol.   The male resident whose identity has not been ascertained was shot dead at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) mega filling station in Obalende.   The deceased was said to have engaged in an argument with another person at the filling station over whose turn it was to buy fuel.  

Mr. Uchenna Mojekwu, a civil rights activist and Secretary of the Global Integrity Crusade Network (GICN), has been remanded in prison by the Chief Magistrate Court 1 in Makurdi, Benue State. The police on Thursday took Mr. Uchenna Mojekwu, a civil rights activist and Secretary of the Global Integrity Crusade Network (GICN), to the Chief Magistrate Court 1 in Makurdi for arraignment. Sources told SaharaReporters that the police had arranged for the activist to be remanded in prison immediately after his arraignment.

Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has returned to Nigeria about one and a half months after he went to the United States to unite with his family.
