Human capital development is essential for sustained and inclusive growth. The wealth of modern nations depends not only on their natural resources: it also depends on their human resources. However, the countries of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) face major challenges in terms of education, health and economic inclusion. Germany will provide a 700 million euro ($770 million) military aid package to Ukraine, that will include providing two patriot systems to Kiev, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said on Tuesday.

"Ukraine needs to see the light at the end of the tunnel, it needs to feel motivated that one day it will be welcomed into our [NATO] family," said Czech Republic President Petr Pavel.

"We are proceeding [with additional funding] because we are convinced it is necessary and the only right thing to do is support Ukraine for as long as it takes," said Boris Pistorius, Germany's minister of defense.

The African National Congress (ANC) will not oppose the invitation of any other political parties to the upcoming Brics summit.

"I am confident that we'll find a united way to address the specific issue on [Ukraine] membership, but I will not go into the details of exact language now because that is something we will announce [at the Summit],” said Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General.

Jens Stoltenberg, NATO secretary general, said after a meeting today that “unsolved issues” remain, all but ending the prospect of NATO expanding to 32 members at the alliance’s Heads of State Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, next week.

It is the third time the former Norwegian prime minister has had his mandate extended since taking on the secretary general position in 2014.
