A judge on Massachusetts’s Supreme Judicial Court ruled on procedural grounds Monday that the state’s ballot law commission does not have the authority to remove Donald Trump from the ballot.

Citing a lack of jurisdiction, the Massachusetts Ballot Law Commission on Monday rejected calls to remove former president Donald Trump’s name from the state’s Republican presidential primary ballot.

Attorneys for Trump filed his request a day before the Massachusetts Ballot Law Commission is slated to meet in a prehearing conference to begin considering a pair of objections to Trump’s name appearing on the state’s March 5 primary ballot.

The Massachusetts Ballot Law Commission on Thursday took statements from attorneys, and its members gave no indication of how they could rule on challenges seeking to remove Donald Trump from the state's primary ballot.
