Staunton City Council ends call-ins, not responding to citizens

This is a copy of a letter I sent to the Staunton City Council: Frankly I am struggling for words to address the Staunton City Council. Disappointment is inadequate. You have had three weeks since you received the letter from the ACLU and two other organizations regarding your silencing of citizen voices. I have written you several times, as many others have regarding this issue. I’ve called in on that fateful April 8 when you chose to end call-in communication. I appeared per your demand at the last City Council meeting, even though it was a hardship to do so. Yet my voice and the voices of many others are prevented from being heard. That you did not take up this issue and resolve it tonight is shameful. Instead of building community you are destroying it!

Taunton City Council candidate: Meet Diversity Network founder CJ Daye

TAUNTON  Racial justice activist CJ Daye has announced another run for Taunton City Council.  The 39-year-old dental practice area manager is a founding member of Taunton Diversity Network. He is a 30-year resident of Taunton who met his wife in the city and whose two children attend Taunton Public Schools.  I have grown up and laid down roots down here. This is my community, my home, he wrote in a statement. Now there is a whole new generation of Tauntonians  a generation that needs all of us to make the best version of Taunton we can for them. If elected, Daye said he will focus on making it easier for small businesses to open in Taunton; ensuring Taunton s youth have a voice and that they are raised to be leaders; pushing for equity, diversity and inclusion in Taunton s government, schools and services; and revitalizing areas of the city that he says have been overlooked.
