Icelandic crime drama Stella Blomkvist screens this week on SBS. This is a 6 part series from 2017 which has previously screened at SBS on Demand. In Icelandic with English subtitles. Heida Reed (Poldark) stars as Stella Blomkvist, a sexy, hard-nosed and quick-witted lawyer with a dark past, fluid sexuality and a taste for whiskey and easy money. Her cases always lead to danger and her latest will plunge her into a violent political conspiracy. Episode One: Murder At The Ministry (Part 1) A murder is committed inside the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Stella’s former client is caught red handed over the body. The victim is the young assistant to the Prime Minister and the police is in no doubt as to how things went down. Stella decides to take on the case and is determined to figure out exactly what happened. It doesn’t take long until powerful individuals have started to meddle in the case.

Bordertown Finnish broadcaster YLE and Germany s Beta Film are backing Mikko Oikkonen s Helsinki Syndrome, a Nordic thriller set to begin shooting in June. Mikko Oikkonen, creator of Netflix Finnish crime series Bordertown, has received the greenlight for his next project, the Nordic thriller Helsinki Syndrome. Finnish public broadcaster YLE and world sales group Beta Film have come on board to back the eight-hour limited series, which will begin shooting in Finland in June. Helsinki-based Fisher King, part of Beta s Nordic Studio (BNS) group of Scandinavian production companies, will produce the series. The thriller features Vikings star Peter Franzén as Elias Karo, a man whose life has been destroyed by corrupt bankers and government officials. In an act of desperation, he kidnaps four respected journalists in the office of the main newspaper in Helsinki to force them to expose two bank officials and a district court judge whose actions have wiped out Elias’ family
