Scientists at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel have successfully grown human embryo-like structures in a lab without using sperm, eggs, or a womb. The researchers used pluripotent stem cells to create synthetic embryo models that closely mimic the development of a real human embryo. These models had all the structures and compartments characteristic of an embryo up to day 14, including the placenta, yolk sac, and chorionic sac.

Israeli researchers have developed a synthetic human embryo model using stem cells, bypassing the need for traditional methods. The model exhibits the characteristic structures and compartments found at the developmental stage, allowing for the study of the effects of medicines on real human embryos and potential transplantation. The findings have been published in the journal Nature.
