The Quebec Jockey Club and Standardbred Canada celebrated National Caretaker Appreciation Day at Hippodrome 3R during the Sunday, Sept. 4 afternoon program that featured a pair of Preferred events.
With sunny skies and 70 degrees, the racing conditions were perfect at Hippodrome 3R on Friday (Sept. 2) for horses that like racing on the front-end. Such was the case in both co-feature races and in five of the 10 races on the card.
Little Diamond may be on the smaller side when compared to other harness racing horses, but the two-year-old colt has a huge heart and showed it Sunday (Aug. 28) at the Hippodrome 3R, scoring his fourth straight win in taking his division of the Future Stars Series.
The harness racing driving colony at Hippodrome 3R continues to be a competitive group with top drivers who also ply their trade at Rideau Carleton Raceway. And leading the way the last two seasons have been none other than Pascal Berube.
Once Sunjet Ray was on the lead, no one could pass her by as she breezed to a 1-3/4-length triumph in the $28,000 Lucien Bombardier Pace for two-year-old fillies on Sunday, Oct. 3 at the Hippodrome 3R.
