Contractors have been appointed to design the layout of the Banwell bypass.
Alun Griffiths Contracting Ltd will work with North Somerset Council to design and construct the Banwell Bypass, with public engagement to help decide the bypass route due to start this summer.
Cllr Steve Bridger, the council s executive member for assets and capital delivery, said: “Banwell bypass is a key project in North Somerset, set not only to reclaim the village of Banwell for its residents, but to act as a crucial investment that can serve our communities for years to come.
Balfour ops director joins Alun Griffiths

Balfour Beatty regional operations director Stephen Tomkins has joined Alun Griffiths.
Tomkins, formerly Balfour’s UK construction services ops director for the North and Midlands, is to take up the role of managing director at the civils specialist.
A statement from the Abergavenny-based firm said Tomkins “has delivered an extensive variety of high-profile and award-winning projects across highways, rail, regeneration, infrastructure and marine sectors” in his 25-year career.
He had an earlier spell at Alun Griffiths from 2013-14 and also spent four years at Galliford Try, according to his LinkedIn profile.
His departure follows that of Balfour Beatty construction services MD for the south Beth West who left after the southern England business was merged with the North and Midlands unit last month. The units, which were amalgamated due to “market conditions”, are now one construction services business covering
