Red Wagon LLC, a charitable organization managed by Dogfish Head owners Sam and Mariah Calagione, recently donated $30,000 to the Sussex County Land Trust. Land trust board of directors Chair Casey Kenton said the funds will be used to support efforts to build a trailhead for the Lewes-to-Georgetown Trail at the trust’s Stephen P. Hudson Park at the intersection of Route 9 and Coolspring Road. The trust has also formed an exploratory committee to research a pedestrian bridge over Route 9 as part of the trail.

One of the bright spots in the blizzard of suffering brought on by the coronavirus pandemic is an expanded appreciation for being outdoors. There has never been more outside dining and socializing, more appreciation for sunrises and sunsets, sunlight and starlight – the ever-present beauty of nature.
In Delaware’s Cape Region and farther out in Sussex County, the impressive and expanding system of trails beckons to ever-increasing numbers of people ready and willing to get outside for walking and bicycling.
