New business planned for Steubenville Avenue in Cambridge Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation members learned Friday that a new business is coming to Cambridge. CIC Director Norm Blanchard reported Will Petta will open a business to market oil products at a company-owned property in the 100 block of Steubenville Avenue. A new business is always good news, said Blanchard. Petta is co-owner of Petta Enterprises located on North Third Street in Cambridge. Petta Enterprises is a family-owned and operated company specializing in environmental cleaning for the gas and oil industry. Blanchard said neither an opening date nor the number of workers to be employed at the new business were available.

U S Bridge asks City of Cambridge to close street to allow for expansion

Aerial view of affected area in West Cambridge   CAMBRIDGE, Ohio Cambridge City Council has once again been approached about a proposed expansion by a local business that would require the city to abandon a short section of a street on the city’s west side. Council, acting as a whole committee, heard the new proposal and discussed the issue on Monday. U.S. Bridge – a Division of Ohio Bridge – approached council regarding a request to close a section of Gomber Avenue between Second and Third streets. The company, which employs over 70 workers, says the expansion is necessary to allow them to remain completive in the market. U.S. Bridge made a similar request in October of 2018. A number of local residents were strongly opposed to the closure of the street and Council was divided on the issue at that time.
