LANSING, Mich. â The menu for Landshark Bar & Grill lists five types of grilled pizza. Itâs unclear which kind Governor Gretchen Whitmer tried while being photographed violating state COVID rules, but she said the pizza is pretty good.â
Whitmerâs comments came during a press conference Monday, just one day after a photo went viral showing the governor and 12 friends seated around pushed-together tables inside the East Lansing establishment. The party was clearly violating a state health order that limits tables in restaurants to six people, other groups must be six feet away.
The chair of the state House Oversight Committee says he will send a letter to Governor Gretchen Whitmer this week.
Representative Steve Johnson (R-Wayland) says he has questions about the governor’s trip to Florida to visit her ailing father, and how the trip was paid for.
“Did her security detail travel with her or not – what was the cost to taxpayers of that? Just a number of questions that we’d like answers to. That is our first step, and depending on the administration s answers or refusal to answer, the oversight committee will consider hearings after that.”
The trip was paid for by a not-for-profit fund controlled by the governor, and not taxpayer money.

LANSING, Mich. â Ex-Michigan health director Robert Gordon, who abruptly resigned in January, says Governor Gretchen Whitmer asked him to step down. âRobert, Iâm grateful for your service, but I think it s time to go in a new direction,â Gordon recalls the governor saying on a January video call.
On Thursday, Gordon shared details of his departure for the first time, in front of the House Oversight Committee.
Last week, the committee issued a subpoena to get him to answer questions about what led to his resignation and to provide details regarding the six-figure payout he got from the state.
