To stop. No matter what you do, they just keep on coming after you, hungry and ready to tear you apart. You can never just sit back and relax, because after these zombies, the ones right in front of you, there are thousands more right behind them and a thousand more behind them, and theyll all want a piece of you. Maybe you have a plan for the zombie apocalypse. The cdc certainly does. No, really, thats a real post from the federal governments zombie preparedness campaign, but what about if the government defaults on its debts . The way some are talking about it, it sure sounds like an apocalyp apocalypse. In order to admit default would be, and im quoting here, insane, catastrophic, chaos, these are the more polite words. Warren buffett likened it to a nuclear bomb. But the real zombies in this metaphor arent the countrys debts, the real zombies are the congressional republicans. See, no matter how much you think theyve been defeated, they just keep coming back. The Affordable Care ac
Holiday shoppers scrambling for cover at a crowded mall after a gunman opened fire. 10,000 people inside the Clackamas Town Center mall when a man wearing a mask suddenly started firing. Chaos erupted. When it was over, three people dead, including the shooter himself. A young woman left wounded, fighting for her life right now. The mall is supposed to be a place we can all take our families, feel comfortable that this is a great place, especially at the Holiday Season like this. And these things arent supposed to happen. I want to begin with dan simon live in portland. We know that the police have identified the shooter, but is there any indication of a motive at this point . Not yet, soledad. Any time there is a shooting like this, thats always the first question. What was the shooter . What was the motive . Was this a random shooting . We dont know the answers to any of the questions. We know that the shooting happened about 3 30 in the afternoon. A mall full of people, 10,000 peopl
Manufacturing, access to capital for Small Businesses, making investments in infrastructure, utilizing Domestic Energy resources, Stem Education and implementing smarter regulations. I believe, mr. Speaker, that this remains the best recipe for getting our country back to work. Beyond our job creation efforts, im proud of our leadership on confronting the nations debt crisis. Though not always popular, i refuse to accept the status quo of no budgeting, skyrocketing debt and ignoring the problem which only makes it worse. With over 40 cents now borrowed on every dollar spent by the federal government, this is both a Current Crisis and a future one as well. Last year alone, we spent more paying the interest on the debt than we spent on domestic priorities of education, transportation and Natural Resource protection combined. This is unsustainable. This is why i have dedicated much of my time and effort of reining in spending and in washington. Im proud of our efforts to introduce the fir
Better job in explaining why it is important that nations who would like to be taken seriously in the world require military capabilities to be partners in the larger endeavors that confront us. But lets be clear. Its not clear that in this country there is the kind of support we may need for defense spending at large, and it is definitely clear there is no support or no knowledge for nato. Much of our parliamently our congre congressmen and senators dont know much about nato. Most would be surprised that nato continues not only to run the Afghan Mission but have between a third and a half of the troops there from european countries. So we have done not a particularly good job of explaining the importance of nato to our own security, to our own to what it is that europe and nato contribute to what we do day in and day out. So before we start lecturing our european friends about how important it is that they go out and tell their parliamentarians how central nato is and defense spending
Important it is that they go out and tell their parliamentarians how central nato is and defense spending is, we have a job to do here ourselves. Our interim general scocroft that when were thinking here how to engage in capitol hill that narrative. Ill take the woman in the back. Thanks. My name is trina flocrant. While in washington im at the transatlantic academy. What you said about the nato issue is music in my ears. I just wish it had been said by the defense and Deterrence Program or defense and deterrence posture review whats going on. Because one of the things that was very apparent during that time was the silence from and i know that you as ambassador could probably not say what you said now, but from an american perspective, there was very little said to actually push the europeans in that direction you just outlined. I can say this because im a european. I think without the americans taking the lead, and quite frankly, lecturing and pushing the europeans on issues like thi
