Exclusive: National Lottery removed online £10 'Instant Win Games' because of addiction fears

The Telegraph can disclose. Research by the Gambling Commission last year suggested a possible link between the higher priced games and problem gambling, after which they were removed from sale. The National Lottery, run by Camelot, has doubled its income from such games in just two years, earning £750 million from punters playing games online. Dermot O'Leary, the TV presenter, fronted a video which suggested the public spend up to £50 a week on Instant Win Games that experts warn can be addictive. Figures obtained by The Telegraph show that the National Lottery saw its income from Instant Win Games increase fivefold in 10 years, now making up tenth of all its sales.
