By Josh Claywell Editor Omicron, the latest variant of the COVID-19 virus, has made its way to Kentucky. The variant, which Kentucky Health News says is the most contagious, has been reported in four counties in the state. As of Saturday, Dec. 18, the variant had been identified in Campbell, Fayette, Jefferson and Kenton counties. Gov. Andy Beshear once again urged Kentuckians to get a COVID vaccine or booster shots and pleaded with schools and businesses to require masking policies.

The commissioner of the Kentucky Department for Public Health calls the newest variant of COVID-19 "probably one of the most transmissible or contagious infections we've had in the past century."
