However, a lively discussion of Stockton and Cedar County policing policies occurred both in the Community Center meeting and through call-in questions by citizens watching online. Mayor Brandon Cahill introduced a concept through PowerPoint that could be an alternative to signing a contract with the county for police protection. Alderman Dean Higley summed up the long meeting with this statement: "We need to hear from you…." indicating his personal opinion did not matter, an opinion echoed throughout the night by the mayor and the board.
