Oconee blotter: Fired worker stashes cheesy tots; test driver never returns The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents: GIFT CARDS: On March 4, Deputy Kevin Parker met with a 64-year-old Statham man who reported he received a telephone call that day from who he believed was an agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The supposed agent told him his bank account was compromised and he needed to put $1,000 on two Target gift cards. The scammer also informed him his account had been linked to a major cocaine ring and he insisted he get the gift cards. The man purchased two $500 gift cards and gave the man the activation numbers, only to suspect later it was a scam.
