Almost a year after an explosion at the CSX coal silo rocked Curtis Bay last December, residents marched to the coal pier Wednesday to demand an end to coal exports from South Baltimore.
Two Curtis Bay residents filed a proposed class action lawsuit against freight railroad CSX on Tuesday, escalating the community’s demand for relief from the company’s coal facility that some residents claim is hazardous to their health and property.
CSX is facing more than $121,000 worth of penalties for a group of serious OSHA violations stemming from a December explosion at its coal facility in Curtis Bay, the U.S. Department of Labor said Monday.
