of the possibility of hail and strong winds for that area. the storm caused downed tree, power outage, and damage to several cars. fortunately, though, no injuries were immediately reported. today storm conditions are going to continue in the west as a weather system continues to impact millions. let s get to cnn s allison chinchar, live from the cnn weather center. what are you seeing in the forecast? good morning, boris. yeah, we ve got a couple different waves of systems here to talk about. we ve got a lot of snow action, mainly focused in the western half of the country, but we re now starting to see it spread into other areas as well. we re talking a tremendous amount of snow here. it s why you ve got so many areas in pink and purple indicating winter weather advisories and storm warnings stretching basically from california to michigan. looking at all of this moisture, again, this is several different waves here. the first wave over the rockies yesterday now starting to push
brought to this facility, this warehouse ahead of the storm. and what we do know now is that the owner of those nursing homes, bob dean, is under a lot of pressure right now. there are investigations being called for from both local and state authorities into what happened here. what we can tell you is four people who were brought here, they brought 850 some patients from those nursing facilities to this warehouse, and conditions just deteriorated rapidly. they brought them here before the storm. they brought them here last friday, and what we can tell you is from everything that we ve been told, after the storm conditions deteriorated rapidly. generators failed. the conditions inside were horrible. there were some people sleeping on mattresses on the floor. there were insects crawling all over those mattresses. they were getting not very much food and stale food. again, the heat was oppressive. the oxygen concentrators that a lot of these people needed to survive kept failing because
bethune. thanks for joining us. you have a lot on your plate. good morning. thank you. let me ask first about the conditions on the ground and the conditions you re expecting over these next several hours here. currently, i would say that we re under tropical storm conditions. gusts of wind, rain. a few downed trees. i think, as you just mentioned, we do have had some tornadoes in the area. so right now, we re just waiting for later this afternoon and just to see what comes our way. there are some mandatory evacuation orders in the area. but as always, as the orders come, some people listen, some people don t. what s your message to those who are choosing to stay put? unfortunately, we will always have some people that won t listen to those evacuation orders. we feel that most everyone did pay attention to that. we do still have shelters open
