this morning, southern mississippi, alabama and now they are firing up across southern georgia and tornadoes south carolina. radar has been showing not only circulation but debris balls. that means radar showing debris being lofted into the air. doesn t look impressive right now. you get in closer. severe thunderstorm warnings. in purple, savannah, georgia, a new one now, including columbia, south carolina. if you are watching in columbia, you about 30 to 35 minutes. flash flood watches. atlanta was under a flash flood warning for a while. that s been lifted. last month, we broke an all-time record. 219 tornadoes when the average is 80. we re just now getting into the thick of it for april, may and june. the severe threat in missouri from st. louis to fayetteville slides into the southeast for tomorrow. again, it s the third day in as many weeks and we re going to be watching tornadoes firing up but straightline winds could be widespread with over 75 miles per hour. jake? all right,
i want to switch gears because st. louis now to the north of the city and south of the city both under tornado warnings. another one of our major cities in the country under tornado warnings at this point. shepard: and we will have live pictures out of there in just a few moments. also just got this from kokc radio and police in moore, oklahoma are now reporting cars have been overturned and power lines are down. it was last monday that moore got a direct hit and you all know the pictures and you know the outcome there. tonight, moore, the police are reporting cars overturned and power lines down. that is not to say that they he are confident that a tornado has hit there but the straightline winds, rick, we have been hearing reports in fact the latest one i got from norman from the national weather service was to expect 80 to 95-mile an hour winds. that will overturn a car are. certainly will. obviously some of that damage i think you are seeing today are rot reports you are star
significant sized hail and some very strong straightline winds. so, in the st. louis area, you are not out of the woods and the weather map there on the the big yellow box is an area for extreme thunderstorms, severe thunderstorms. and the red boxes are tornado warnings. let s listen in to local coverage in st. louis where they are giving a heads uñ to locals there. with the radar and show you what is going on. there is the bow right in there. again, i-70 north and to the east of 55 right now. it is approaching highway 51 in illinois. so here is 51. there is 70. there is 55. the most severe weather is right boxed in there. the severe squall line and anywhere along the front edge of that line is where we can get these spinup tornadoes which is why you are under a tornado warning right now. and these are now becoming what
