The fight to keep Scona Pool open in Old Strathcona will soon be over, after 12 years of struggle between community members and the City of Edmonton. The city is closing the 65-year-old pool permanently on Oct. 3. 

The city is looking to close Edmontons oldest operating community pool, with local users bracing themselves for yet another round of defending their beloved facility.

At one Edmonton high school, students are taking the lead and sharing Black issues with their peers, with topics ranging from micro-aggression to mental health to success stories. But it's already encountered some resistance.

A lottery system for students trying to get into their local city public schools has been expanded to deal with high demand, which is frustrating for one parent whose teen may now face a long commute.
