The end of 2023’s legislative session led to over 240 bills getting through the Roundhouse. By the end of Friday, the last day for Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to sign legislation, more than 200 measures from the 60-day Legislative session became law.

By the end of the 2023 session on Saturday, the New Mexico Legislature had passed 241 bills.

New Mexico's governor has until April 7 to sign or veto legislation. After that date, any bills she leaves untouched will be “pocket vetoed.”

It’s the “year of water” at the New Mexico State Capitol. The state Legislature is taking a more serious look at decreasing water supplies across the state.

The New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission oversees stream systems in the state. Lawmakers want more advanced expertise and diversity standards for future commissioners. People that work with the commission say the proposal could cause issues for the state to find people to actually meet the new job requirements.
