Main Street Ripley got good news from the July 21 meeting of the Jackson County Commission. The Alpine Theatre will reap the benefit.
Commissioners Dick Waybright, Mitch Morrison and Mike Randolph approved $15,000 for repairs to the historic theatre in Ripley.
Speaking after the meeting, Sally Blessing, Main Street acting director, said the funds will be used to start on a priority list.
“The first order of precedence is some sort of gutter guards,” she said. “A lot of our water issues stem from those gutters. After that we’ll deal with roof drainage.”
Blessing said an additional benefit of receiving the funds is the ability to fill the matching portion of grants the organization will be seeking.
And the winners are.
