MANSFIELD – City residents can now brighten their own properties with the same high-grade daffodils that have been planted by volunteers across Mansfield for the past three years.
The number of daffodils added to largely public places in the city in this three-year period is 35,000. The effort has been supported by volunteer groups like Mansfield in Bloom.
But now, the goal is to spread the annual Dazzel with Daffodils program from current annual displays along parks, churches and some small businesses to front yards and home gardens.

A few years ago I was working in a one of my client’s beds about this time of year. I saw these little black dots all over her walls in the garden near her front door on the hard surfaces of the stones on the wall.
This wall is a south facing and had a fairly moist, protected area in the beds around the wall. This bed was so protected you could say there was a micro-climate. So, you have warm and moist conditions, which are said to be ideal for growing mushrooms.
