(File photo) Councillor Stuart Barwood said he would support a watered down version of the change, whereby the consent would drop only if the business closed and not if it changed management. Mayor Graham Smith said “We did workshop this and had a discussion and what did come out of that was that revenue comes through these machines and finds it way back through into the community”. Councillor Matt Murphy said he supported the change undiluted. “I’d argue that there are very few benefits to the communities within our district by having gaming machines. I think there’s a bigger question here, as opposed to numbers of machines; ultimately do we need or want any machines in the district?”
