Testing 'turns out to be' important.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology said it will revive standardized test requirements for future admissions cycles.

MIT Admissions announced that it will reinstate its requirement that applicants submit scores from an SAT or ACT exam. The office’s research shows the standardized tests are an important factor in assessing the academic preparation of applicants from all backgrounds, says Dean of Admissions and Student Financial Services Stuart Schmill.

MIT plans to make significant investments in the next fiscal year to support the Institute community, strengthen its research enterprise, and enhance its digital and physical infrastructure.

The SAT exam, dumped as admissions requirement by the University of California, will move to an all-digital format with shorter, more concise content.
