and i can tell you i know it exists, tommy and i can tell you a story. a year ago i was in north carolina organizing right before the election last year. the organization started the largest youth mobilization in history last year. but i was in a meeting with a round table with maybe ten of our young student organizers and there was a 20-year-old young woman, african-american, sitting on my left and i said what are the big issue snz and i know the big issues. the big issues are health care, cost of college, climate and racial justice. her answer was food insecurity, and i said does that mean a food desert? she said, no, we re hungry. and i checked it out at the food bank. 18% of the people in a 32-county area around unc greensborough are hungry. that s not okay. that s what i was trying to say
than they were two hours ago, this has been an emotional journey, the vigil has really brought that home. i had a guest earlier when i was speaking to cody murphy, she was one of the student organizers. this whole thing was organized by students. high school student who is live in the area, they re part of this tight knit community. they came together in the hours after this attack, they put it together. and they were surprised by the huge turnout that came out here. cody was telling me, one of the songs they sang here is a song that they sing at a popular jewish day camp that a lot of kids from this area go to. let me tell you about this community. of the 50,000 jews in the pittsburgh area, about a third of them live here in squirrel hill, really is the pillar of the entire jewish community in pittsburgh. as i mentioned earlier, it s not just jews who are welcome here. this is where fred rogers,
and they can make or break countersuits well to fans a little bit certainly they have a lot of money to spend in the last elections in two thousand and sixteen we saw them give fifty five million dollars to republican candidates now the vast majority the majority of americans say that they want to see straight controls on gun control but we have seen the n.r.a. putting a lot of money into political campaigns of people who support their policies and this is the main criticism from the student organizers who came together after the massacre in parkland florida they say that these politicians are in the pockets of the n.r.a. and they say that they re willing to vote them out of office this fall however of course it remains to be seen whether they will actually make it to the ballot box as youth voter turnout is generally low in the united states. what happened to about campaign you mentioned the this campaign that started with the florida
