um-hmm. cleve? i would argue that just because, you know, there is not public knowledge that something isn t working or whatever doesn t mean that voters don t know it. voters that i ve talked to over the past year, you know, know the problems in the democratic party. they know the problems in washington. and they know the problems joe biden is facing getting his policies through. i don t think that just not talking about it changes that fact. they know that this stuff isn t working because the biden administration hasn t been able to pass any of these big signature legislations that they promised a year ago. um-hmm. tara, your view from the other side? you know, the time for passive platitudes and, you know, promising this and that are over. like, democrats are just getting distracted by this enter nessing fighting. they can t keep airing their
have been appointed to courts in this one year. and that equals everything of all the other president has put together. not to mention the lower courts, more than half are people of color. so if you are talking about keeping having our backs, there is no better way to have our back than voting. that s why black people are looking to the department of justice and they want to see when it comes to these things because we know bennie thompson s committee can investigate, but they can t prosecute. we got to have some prosecutions here, some indictments. you see why with all this stuff
him there. i think this is him monetizing the political standings and taking advantage of the loose campaign finance laws to line pockets. this kind of stuff isn t going to solve the problems he has. he s selling his hotel in washington to deal with the debt problems he has. he moved from new york to florida, i think, for a variety of reasons, part of it financial. and i think the fact that now that his accountants have decided to leave is yet another indication of what a mess he, his children and his company have on their hands financially. just to clarify, by selling his hotel meaning selling the lease on the hotel he leases from us from the united states. still, i can t believe that s legal. it s hard to believe that s legal. paul, the question that every time a story like this comes up, i annoy my producers with the
one year, this stuff isn t going to go to zero when it comes to the tax credit. yes, it is it is difficult to repeal programs that have been implemented and may have some constituency. and i would add that, okay, if they want to make this permanent, then why are they not voting on the permanency of both the spending and revenue provisions now? i think the reality is they don t have the votes for it and if they don t have the votes for it today, then the question is will they be able to will they be able to extend it in the future? and that s why i think it is helpful for the likes of some of these marginal senators to have this information. and if they want to have more information about as i said by how much corporate tax will have to go up or by how much certain individual income tax rates will have to go up in order to finance this, then by all means, ask the cbo to run those numbers. i mean, austin, that does seem to be a big part of the problem here because the democrats,
on testing i think. they need to make a bigger deal on progress. the economy is pretty good for all the worries about inflation. he s not getting much credit it doesn t seem at this point from voters for a pretty decent performance on the pandemic. i think a pretty decent performance on the economy. all the public knows is all this squabbling on the hill which they can t follow very well. but anyway, stuff isn t getting signed and it s an awful lot of money as the tax increases. and i m not sure what it goes for. bill, i keep meaning to tell you, i have listened to those podcasts with sara longwell where i ve also heard your voice. and those focus groups are sometimes incredibly scary, always interesting to listen to especially at this point in time as you reference. both of our guests have agreed to stick around. we have to fit a break in. coming up when we continue our conversation, whether it s voter turnout worries in virginia or
