CARES Act funding awarded to school districts
The Boone County Commission awarded another round of CARES Act funding contracts during its meeting on Thursday. The commission approved five contracts, including four contracts for local area school districts.
The Centralia R-VI school district received the most federal funding, with a $134,300 awarded contract. Harrisburg R-VIII received $60,400, and Sturgeon R-V and Columbia Independent School each received $43,200 and $36,300, respectively.
The commission approved 17 contracts on Tuesday, and three other school districts received funding. Columbia Public Schools was awarded $1,821,400, while Southern Boone and Hallsville R-IV school districts received $181,400 and $139,400 respectively.
Over $19.1 million of the county's $21 million CARES Act funding has been obligated.
