A proposal to revise the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s elk management to include less winter feeding has some worried. But agency says it could curb disease transmission.

Some days, out on the water, the drift boats and rafts are so dense, Wind River Troutfitter owner Ron Hansen feels like everybody’s on top of each other.

Raising show pigs, cattle, sheep and other animals for county fairs is part of life for rural youth all over Wyoming. It also can be lucrative, often paying for college.

Columnist Bill Sniffin writes, “There are mountains higher than Wyoming’s, but are there places more beautiful than the Tetons? Or the Cirque of the Towers in the mighty Wind River Range? Or Square Top Mountain in Sublette County?"

The Green River Bar is a place where real cowboys stop to bend an elbow and swap stories. You'll likely hear the jingle of spurs on the hardwood floor or see a cowboy pull a package of Drum tobacco out of his pocket, hand-roll a cigarette and smoke it.

Every year thousands come to Pinedale in July to celebrate the 1830s mountain men along the Green River in Sublette County. Back in 1833, only one man stayed sober. He was put in charge of the store and reported that for several days nothing sold except whiskey.
