The post of the Maharashtra DGP fell vacant in January last year after the then DGP Subodh Jaiswal left midterm to take over the post of the CISF head, and was subsequently posted as the CBI director. The Maharashtra government then appointed Pandey, the senior most officer in the state, as the acting DGP.
The HC had called for the proceedings of the three Referral Boards in which Pandey’s ratings of ACR (Annual Confidential Record) was increased and adverse remarks expunged.
Former Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sitaram Kunte told the ED that the Maharashtra government took serious note of IPS Rashmi Shukla's report which alleged involvement of agents in transfer posting of police officers.
