Mumbai: India Police Service officer Hemant Kumar Nagrale, currently Director General of Police in Maharashtra with additional charge, has been appointed as the Mumbai Police Commissioner.
Nagrale replaces Param Bir Singh, who has been transferred amidst the ongoing probe into the Antilia (industrialist Mukesh Ambani s multi-storey residence) bomb scare case.
Nagrale was given the additional charge of Maharashtra DGP earlier this year in January after incumbent Subodh Jaiswal was appointed the Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Nagrale was then serving as DG (Technical and Legal).

Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh has been transferred to Maharashtra’s Home Guard department, state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh tweeted on Wednesday.
Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) Hemant Nagrale is the new Mumbai Police Commissioner, Anil Deshmukh said in his tweet.
Rajneesh Sheth will have the additional charge of Maharashtra’s Director General of Police, while Sanjay Pandey has the responsibility of the Maharashtra State Security Corporation, according to Deshmukh.
The bureaucrat said it appeared that both the CM and state home minister Anil Deshmukh (of NCP) had not taken the disclosures as seriously as they should have, resulting in an embarrassment not only for Thackeray but also for NCP chief Sharad Pawar, the architect of the MVA government.
Initially, Deshmukh, who has been blamed for inept handling of the situation, entrusted the probe to the state Anti-Terrorism Squad led by Jaijeet Singh.
Later, after Thane businessman Mansukh Hiran’s body was found in a Thane creek, when Fadnavis made sensational disclosures about call data records pertaining to Waze and Hiran, which showed the two were in touch, the NIA stepped in and took over the probe into the explosives case.

New Delhi, Mar 10: The CISF is working to establish itself as a zero-error and cost-effective force keeping in view future security challenges, the chief of the paramilitary said on Wednesday.
Subodh Jaiswal, the Director General (DG) of the over 1.62 lakh personnel strong force, said they are working to change the perception that the Central Industrial Security Force is a costly force .

He was speaking at a force camp here during an event held to mark the 52nd raising day celebrations of the force.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, who officiated as the chief guest of the event and reviewed the ceremonial parade, said the CISF is a well known force and it should work to live up to its good reputation in securing vital installations, airports and Delhi Metro, which have a huge public interface and witness heavy footfall.
