Yoruba Community In Sokoto State Suspends 'Sarkin Yorubawa' For Misconduct, Contempt

The Yoruba Community Council, Sokoto State chapter, has indefinitely suspended Alhaji Abdulfatai Olayiwola Coker, as the Sarikin Yorubawa in the state. According to a letter dated April 19 and signed by both the President-General of the council and Secretary of the council, Chief James Olorunfemi and Imam Abdulwahab Lawal, and made available to journalists in the state, the council urged Coker to stop parading himself as the Oba of Yoruba in the state with immediate effect.

Sultan Declares Wednesday Eid-El-Fitr

April 9, (THEWILL)- The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Wednesday, for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration as no moon was sighted, saying fasting continues on Tuesday.
