After an investigation looking into why a Black family's pool party was canceled at the Summit Waves Water Park in Lee's Summit, city officials admitted some fault in the incident.

The family says they faced racial discrimination and profiling that led to a private birthday party being dropped without warning because officials at Summit Waves Aquatic Facility were “uncomfortable” with their presence.

Summitt Waves water park denied a group of Black teenagers from entering “for no apparent reason than the color of their skin,” the father said.

Chris Evans, the father of the two teens who’d planned the party, accused park workers of participating in “racial profiling and discrimination.”
