Waynesboro Record Herald
The legacy of Charles Thomas, 85, will live on in the lives of the thousands of students he taught in the Waynesboro Area School District.
Thomas was a substitute teacher for WASD for over 20 years and has taught every class, and subject from English to math and history to science. He was always prepared for the task at hand.
Thomas died Monday at WellSpan York Hospital after suffering a stroke. He was still actively substituting in the classroom, WASD superintendent Dr. Tod Kline said Wednesday. The kids really enjoyed having him in class, he was almost like a grandfather for them. The kids really had a lot of respect and love for him. He was a very good guy and very dedicated to Waynesboro; it s hard to believe he is no longer with us.
