Shah expects largecap pharma stocks like Sun Pharma, Cipla, and Dr Reddys to maintain their good performance. The market is undergoing sector rotation, with IT stocks performing well and now pharma stocks gaining momentum.

BSE Sensex rose 167.06 points, or 0.23 per cent to close at 71,595.49. NSE's Nifty50 jumped 64.55 points, or 0.30 per cent, to end the session at 21,782.50.

HDFC Bank, SBI, Reliance Industries, ITC and ICICI Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value.

Indian shares eked out modest gains on Friday after ending sharply lower the previous day post RBI's decision to hold the repo rate for the sixth consecutive time.
