Mapo pizza from Sunset Squares, a new Detroit-style pizzeria in San Francisco s SoMa District from Dennis Lee.Daniel Lee
When it started out, the indie Detroit-style pizza place Sunset Squares was only available to friends and friends-of-friends of an unknown chef on Instagram, who came up with elaborate, crazy-good looking toppings like Korean galbi, complete with the bone-in braised beef rib on top.
Now, the identity of the chef has been revealed by Eater SF as Namu Stonepot’s Dennis Lee, who formalized the business last week after moving it into the former Perennial SoMa space. It’s taking over for what was supposed to be a reboot of his more upscale California-Korean restaurant, Namu Gaji, which is permanently on hold for lack of funding during the crisis.
