A recent study by the RAC found four in five motorists said glare from other vehicles lights is a growing problem and has been getting worse in recent years.

A quarter of drivers say they have been dazzled by another cars brake lights and nearly a third claim to have been dazzled by the brightness of traffic lights at the roadside.

Of 2,000 licence holders, nine in 10 think headlights fitted to cars are too bright and are increasing the risk of accidents.

The majority of drivers - 85 per cent - say they have been partially blinded by the glare of bright headlights and believe the problem is becoming worse, according to a survey by the RAC.
