Ms Whelan is described as white female, 5ft7 tall, medium build, pale complexion, blonde hair and wearing glasses.
She was last seen wearing a white top, black leggings, dark green parka coat with fur around the hood, black ankle boots and a large purple over the shoulder handbag.
Detective Superintendent Mark Swift of West Yorkshire Police said: It is out of character for Tara to be out of contact with her family for this long and we are growing increasing concerned that she has not be in contact with them.

Tara Whelan has been missing since Tuesday and a man has been arrested in connection to her disappearance A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police in connection with a missing persons appeal for 18-year-old Tara Whelan. Police are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Tara, who went missing on Tuesday, December 15. Tara, from Halifax, was last seen in Market Street in Halifax town centre on the morning of December 15 with an unknown man who has now been spoken to as a witness. Police believe she was in the Parkinson Lane/Queen s Road area of Halifax at around 1pm later that day.
