JOHNSTOWN The Fulton County Center for Regional Growth is currently promoting the county’s business facilities in a major marketing initiative.
The effort was discussed by CRG officials at a recent meeting of the Board of Supervisors’ Economic Development & Environment Committee at the County Office Building.
CRG Economic Development Specialist Ken Adamczyk said businesses are looking for 50,000 and 100,000 square foot facilities. He said the agency has also been marketing the Tryon Technology Park in Perth through a recent article.

JOHNSTOWN Fulton County Historian Samantha Hall-Saladino has been researching the history of veterans organizations in the area.
In her monthly report to the Board of Supervisors’ Economic Development & Environment Committee, she alluded to the research.
At the request of county Veterans Director Dan Engel, she researched and compiled a list of Fulton County veteran organizations whose post names include the name of a veteran from the post-Civil War Grand Army of the Republic, through the still-active posts like the Gloversville and Broadalbin American Legions and the Broadalbin VFW Post.
Hall-Saladino said the work was part of the local effort to honor these men and for their possible inclusion in the Hometown Heroes banner program in downtown Gloversville. She said she will continue to add to the list as necessary.

JOHNSTOWN A new initiative for the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce geared toward working people in this area was outlined Wednesday for Fulton County officials.
Chamber President Mark Kilmer reported on the “Be A Tourist In Your Own Town” initiative to the Board of Supervisors’ Economic Development & Environment Committee at the County Office Building. He gave the monthly tourism report in the absence of chamber Director of Tourism Development Anne Boles.
“Anne developed this,” Kilmer told supervisors.
The new initiative involves trying to encourage people who work in Fulton County, but live outside the county, to take the “long way home” and explore Fulton County. He said that, for example, many teachers and business people in Fulton County actually work in Saratoga County. He said the effort may help out with local revenue.

JOHNSTOWN The Fulton County Center for Regional Growth is working with an agency that doles out federal funding to get a site assessment of the county completed.
The initiative was reported on by CRG President/CEO Ronald Peters at a recent Fulton County Board of Supervisors’ Economic Development and Environment Committee meeting. He reported on training and ongoing efforts to stir up business for Fulton County.
“We’ve probably had 50 contacts,” Peters said.
Peters said the CRG is working through the Herkimer-based Mohawk Valley Economic Development District to have a Fulton County Site Assessment completed. He said this is one of the first steps in seeking and developing shovel-ready sites. He said a request for proposals recently went out for the work.
