AFP s Mobile Kitchen provides meals to QC families

PASIG CITY, May 1 (PIA) The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Mobile Kitchen continues to roll out to provide hot meals to individuals and families in need especially in this time of pandemic. The AFP Mobile Kitchen is one of our soldiers humanitarian actions to help and provide assistance to our less fortunate kababayans as our nation continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, AFP Chief of Staff General Cirilito Sobejana said.
A total of 3,000 food packs for lunch and evening meals were given to Camp Aguinaldo s immediate neighbors in Barangay Socorro in Quezon City. The beneficiaries which included street sweepers, pedicab drivers, and families living in nearby depressed areas that were identified by the barangay.

Two of those veterans – Burnie Coats and David Lewis – were recognized April 28 in an emotional Vietnam Veterans Commemoration program hosted by Army Materiel Command at its Redstone Arsenal headquarters.
AMC is a commemorative partner of the U.S. Vietnam War Commemoration program, which honors all U.S. veterans who served on active duty between Nov. 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, regardless of whether they served in-country, in-theater or stationed elsewhere during the Vietnam War period. The national commemoration honors the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War through various community events recognizing Vietnam veterans and their families. Currently, there are more than 6 million Vietnam veterans.
Fort Polk celebrates courthouse dedication ceremony

On the morning of April 21, the Fort Polk Office of the Staff Judge Advocate named and dedicated the Fort Polk Courthouse after Sgt. Maj. Howard Metcalf.
Metcalf served as the 8th Regimental Sergeant Major of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps from Feb. 17, 1998, until his retirement in 2002. He passed away in November 2019 at the age of 72. The Fort Polk Courthouse Naming and Dedication ceremony was held in conjunction with Fort Polk’s 80th Anniversary and in the spirit of recognizing excellence within the ranks of the U.S. Army.

After wrapping up the successful annual Balikatan exercise last week, United States soldiers from the 5th Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB) are now engaging in their first-ever partner training rotation with the Philippine Army, taking place from April to June 2021 at Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija.
